$ - stands for comparison and can be =, <, >, <=, >= or !=
| - stands for or, as in this word or that word
[] - means the clause is optional
... - means you can have as many of these clauses as you want


select first field1 , field2 ...
from table1 , table2 ...
[ where field $ field | field $ value | value $ field
and or field $ field field $ value ]

insert into table1 , table2 ...
( field , field2 ... )
values ( value1 , value2 ... )

delete first
from table1 , table2 ...
[ where field $ field | field $ value | value $ field
and or field $ field field $ value ]

update first table1
set field1 = value1 , field2 = value2 ...
[ where field $ field | field $ value | value $ field
and or field $ field field $ value ]
